Disorders related to Menstruation Treatment of HSDD

After evaluating and assessing the factors responsi- ble for low sexual desire, there are a number of ways with which you can treat the problem:

Relationship Counseling and Sex Therapy: HSDD naturally affects both members in a relationship, thus making it more necessary to confront the problem through proper consultation with a sexual therapist or counsellor.

Treatment of HSDD:

  • Testosterone Therapy: In order to raise the level of testosterone back to ordinary pre-menopausal levels, the hormone is given artificially. Short term testosterone therapy with Ayurvedic medicines gives nice results.
  • Change your Medication: A change of prescription medicines or an alteration in dosage of certain medicines can prove to be helpful. Further, if oral contraceptives are the reason behind the low levels of testosterone, your doctor may also prescribe non-hormonal birth control methods.
  • Estrogen Therapy: Estrogen is given as a part of hormone replacement therapy during menopause. After menopause, vaginal estrogens may be prescribed to eliminate the problem of vaginal dryness. Rather than estrogen cream for vaginal dryness, Ayurvedic medicines and creams like Shatdhaut cream also give proper lubrication.
  • Surgical Procedures: There are other medical conditions which cause sexual dysfunction and these may require surgical treatment, for example, surgery of fibroids.
